Spreadsheets bury the formula, and hand calculators often disagree on residual rounding in the last period when you switch methods. This depreciation calculator accepts original cost, estimated salvage value, useful life in whole periods, and a chosen method—straight-line, double-declining-balance, or sum-of-years-digits—then returns the depreciable base, the first-period depreciation amount, total depreciation over the life, ending book value, and a full schedule of depreciation, accumulated depreciation, and book value for each period. Useful life must be a positive integer: zero or negative life is rejected as invalid input rather than dividing by zero. The same pure arithmetic powers the free browser widget and the prepaid API, so classroom demos, content widgets, and automation never disagree on the same inputs.

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

Published price — no tokens, no invented credits. A failed task is never charged.

Errors

HTTP	Code	Meaning
`401`	`unauthorized`	Missing or invalid API key.
`402`	`insufficient_balance`	Your balance doesn't cover the task price.
`404`	`unknown_type`	That task type doesn't exist.
`429`	`rate_limited`	Too many requests. Use the webhook instead of polling.
