This newborn feeding schedule calculator accepts the baby's age in weeks and maps it to a fixed age band with feeds per day, interval hours, ounces and millilitres per feed, and a simple daily volume envelope. The logic is pure and deterministic: the same age always yields the same ranges, so widgets, parenting apps, and backend jobs never disagree. Negative ages fail with invalid_input. Ranges are educational approximations for healthy term infants—not medical advice—and breastfed babies often feed on demand while formula volumes stay approximate. The free browser path and the API share one module so demos match production at $0.002 per successful call.

How do I estimate a newborn feeding schedule by age?

Send age_weeks as a finite non-negative number (0 for the first week). The API returns feeds per day, interval hours, and volume ranges in oz and ml for the matching pediatric age band.

What happens if age_weeks is negative?

The task fails with invalid_input. Age in weeks must be greater than or equal to zero; negative ages are not billed.

Are these volumes medical advice?

No. Ranges are typical educational approximations for healthy term infants from common pediatric guidance. Follow your clinician for individual care, especially for preterms or special needs.

Does this work for breastfed and formula-fed babies?

Frequency bands apply broadly; per-feed ounces are most useful for formula. Breastfed babies often feed on demand with variable session volumes.

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.
