Wall plates are the horizontal lumber members that sandwich the vertical studs in wood-frame construction: a single bottom plate (also called a sole or sill plate) sits on the floor or foundation, and a double top plate ties the wall to the plate above and transfers loads into intersecting walls.

Estimating plate stock is a linear-feet problem first and a board-count problem second: you need one run of wall length for the bottom plate, two runs for the top and cap plates, then you convert that total into whole sticks of 8-, 10-, 12-, or 16-foot lumber after a small joint and cut allowance. This wall plate lumber calculator accepts the total length of wall being framed, the stock board length you plan to buy, and an optional waste percent, then returns net and waste-adjusted linear feet for bottom, top, and combined plates plus ceil board counts for separate piles or an efficient single purchase. The same pure arithmetic powers the free browser widget and the paid API path, so takeoff sheets, contractor apps, and DIY material lists stay deterministic without store lookups or random rounding.

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.
