FAQ
What does the Gellish max heart rate calculator cost?
It is free in your browser on this page. Through the API a successful request costs $0.002; invalid inputs are not charged.
What is the Gellish equation for maximum heart rate?
The linear Gellish form is HRmax = 207 − 0.7 × age, with age in years and HRmax in beats per minute. The response field hrmax_bpm holds that estimate.
How is Gellish different from Fox or Tanaka?
Fox is 220 − age. Tanaka is 208 − 0.7 × age. Gellish uses the same 0.7 slope as Tanaka but a 207 intercept, so the two differ by one beat per minute at every age.
What happens if age is missing, zero, or negative?
The input is rejected with invalid_input. Age is required and must be a positive finite number; missing and non-positive values are not valid for this equation.
Is this a medical measurement of my true max heart rate?
No. Gellish is a population regression from age alone. True individual maximums vary; use clinical or supervised testing when precision matters for health decisions.
For developers — API access
Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.
API endpoint
Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.
